As an online student who was looking for friends and community, Gillyan first stepped into “The Loft” in Beaver Dam last April. She says, “on the outside, I seemed pretty happy and outgoing, but on the inside, I felt very alone.” She found Campus Life to be both a safe place and fun, with caring adults and other kids.“I loved coming to club for the games and also learning about God.”
A couple of months later, Gillyan went to YFC Camp. The first few days were difficult for her as she wrestled with some anxiety and recent trauma. Gillyan was able to witness love and genuine concern through YFC Staff and Camp counselors, who were committed to walking alongside of her every step of the way. By the end of the week she had both heard about and witnessed the love of Christ, was fully participating, and said it was the best experience she ever had.
Being a teenager isn’t easy and life still has its challenges, but Gillyan says she doesn’t feel alone now. “I got to fully meet Jesus and learn to trust Him in everything I do”.
