Growing up and admitting to being rather rambunctious, Breanna said that “trouble would come and fine me,” whether it was at the park, pool, or in the neighborhood. Upon learning she was pregnant at the age of 14, a flood of emotions and questions washed over her. Realizing she was bringing another life into the world, she asked herself “Can I keep my baby and still go to school?” and “How is this all going to work?” She was confused and didn’t know what to do.
While trying to figure this out she met Misty, at Fond du Lac High School, who has been at her side ever since. Bre got involved in YFC Parent Life and found that even after getting home from a full, tiring day of work and school, she was determined to get herself and baby Leilani to the Parent Life meeting each week.
While there she found it to be a safe place to share with others, get a healthy meal, and pick up diapers when needed. Misty and the other mentors listened to her, encouraged her to stay in school, and were there – even if only for a hug and to tell her “Just breathe,” reassuring her that everything was going to be ok.
Bre also mentions that “they were always praying for me and telling me God would work things out,” and how she saw those prayers recently answered. We are so proud of her as she has grown in her faith and has been an example of tenacity and encouragement to other teen parents! Thanks for helping us reach teens like Breanna.
