This is an informal get-together where we will share a meal, watch a video and have a round-table disucssion about the topics in the video. These videos come from various world class leadership training sources and cover a WIDE variety of topics. Our hope is to provide quality information in a setting that will be a "cup filler."

April 5, 2018 - 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Join us for a meal and night of learning about and discussing the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as written by Stephen Covey. Covey suggests that there are 7 Habits we can all cultivate and develop to help us become people of high character and moral ethics. I firmly believe these habits will help us in our relationships with others and our ministry to students.

“Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®, has been a top-seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its fifteenth year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey exploring the question of whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answering some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.” (from https://www.stephencovey.com/7habits/7habits.php)

June 7, 2018 - Uniquely Better

Join us for a meal and night of learning. Our topic is how to lead a uniquely better ministry.

Andy Stanley is the senior pastor of North Point Community Church- one of the largest churches in North America- and one of the most influential living pastors in America. We will be watching a video from the 2017 Willow Creek Global Leadership Conference where Andy Stanley talks about how to lead a uniquely better ministry. He says that there are 4 key things to being and leading uniquely better:

  1. Be a student not a critic
  2. Keep your eyes and your mind wide open- closed minded leaders close minds
  3. Replace “how” with “wow”- you can wow ideas to life but you can how them to death
  4. Ask uniquely better questions:
    1. Is this unique or just like what we’ve done before or just like what everyone else is doing?
    2. What would make this unique?
    3. Is it better- it may be unique but that doesn’t mean that it’s better?
    4. Is it REALLY better?
